Day 1: Saturday 22nd July ~ contd

We reached Wadebridge around 4:00 PM, having completed sixty miles on the first day - averaged 12.5 mph courtesy of Matt's gps bike computer. Previously I ditched some gear which the nice lady at the Land's End BNB kindly offered to post home for me. I had struggled with it on my back the previous night, so we collectively decided to shed some excess and duplicative items. I'm feeling a bit sore and numb now, Matt is a bit too, but Hamish seems fine, in fact annoyingly so, but we are all in one piece. Tomorrow will be a big test of how we cope, I am feeling better having completed the first day. Tomorrow we are stopping off at Tintagel (a castle thought to be King Arthur's birth place) enroute to Great Torrington. Apparently these first two days are the worst. We picked up an extra rider at Land's End - Ashley from Leicester, he seems ok. Tonight's place is run by a Scottish couple so Hamish laid on his jock chat, persuaded her to do our washing. We are off to the local - The Ship Inn - shortly, and an early night...

Not far now, time for a pub lunch methinks...
